WRITER’S RETREAT ON oWASCO lAKE

If you should walk the half mile road in early morning, inhaling the aromas of wildflowers and all budding plants, there’s no better way to start off your day. But if you prefer the forest behind your property, you can follow a path to sit on the edge of a waterfall and cool off on those hot summer days. Your house sits just past Seward’s Point in a cove. On shore you can build a small fire, or just gaze at the stars and meteor showers. There’s good fishing off your dock and there are many places up and down Owasco Lake that are good angling spots. If too buggy, relax in the screened porch with a good book and listen to the waves’ steady rhythm on shore. Or sit out on your wrap-around deck and enjoy the varieties of song birds around your feeder. With the house and deck all wheelchair accessible, there’s plenty of room for family and friends. At night you might glimpse a raccoon or two passing through, maybe hear a flying squirrel land at high speed on your feeder, or while falling asleep hear the call of a whippoorwill outside your window. There’s no greater nourishment than plenty of solitude and quiet. This is where your body calms down and enjoys its fullest serenity.
